The Eternal Nature of Kingdom Law
By: M. Stephanie Zeller
“So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth: it shall not return to Me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.” (Isaiah 55:11, MEV)
Our understanding of Kingdom Law begins when we come to the realization that when God speaks forth a Word, the matter is done.
God’s Word is all powerful; nothing can block its effect for He is sovereign. “For I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and there is none like Me, declaring the end from the beginning and from ancient times things not yet done, saying, ‘My counsel shall stand, and I will accomplish all My purpose’,” (Isaiah 46:9-10, ESV)
God’s Word is creative: Our entire “universe was framed by the word of God so that things that are seen were not made out of things which are visible.” (Hebrews 11:2, MEV)
God’s Word is living: The Word of God comes from God; thus, God Himself is in the Word. One might say, “God’s Word carries God in it.” “For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.” (Hebrews 4:12, ESV)
God’s Word is always true: It is impossible for God to lie, for when He speaks a Word, that which is spoken is accomplished. "God is not man, that He should lie, or a son of man, that He should change His mind." (Numbers 23:19, MEV)
God’s Word is eternal: “Forever, O Lord, Your word is established in heaven. Your faithfulness is for all generations;” Psalm 119:89-90, MEV)
Kingdom law is simply that which God has spoken into existence. By faith we know that God is good and that He has given us good laws so that we may prosper in this life. We discern these laws from the words of scripture, the life and teaching of Jesus and the testimony of the Holy Spirit.
As we study these laws, we learn that God’s laws interact with and support each other. An example in the natural realm is found in the laws of gravity, lift and thrust. Standing alone, the law of gravity prevents a plane from flying, but when combined with the laws of lift and thrust, a plane may fly. This does not mean that the law of gravity is not real, only that the law of gravity is impacted by the laws of lift and thrust.
A spiritual example of laws that interact with and support each other can be seen in the laws of sowing and reaping, repentance and forgiveness. Standing alone, the law of sowing and reaping would have brought a sad ending to the prodigal son, however, that ending was transformed by the son’s repentance and the father’s forgiveness. This transformation does not mean that the law of sowing and reaping is not real, only that the law of sowing and reaping can be impacted by the laws of repentance and forgiveness.
The study of Kingdom Law is an exciting study as God’s wisdom is laced throughout these laws. As our understanding grows, the words of the Lord’s Prayer can become our experience: “Your kingdom come; Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.” (Matthew 6:10, NKJV)
